The first celebration of the year at Guires, Pongal, the Tamil harvest festival, was celebrated with zest and passion on 12 January 2026. Pongal is a festival of gratitude for the agricultural cycle and the promise of a good beginning, and as a cultural milestone for Tamil Nadu it holds special meaning for an organisation rooted in Chennai and serving clients worldwide.
The Guires team arrived dressed in their traditional best, the men in white veshtis and the women in beautiful sarees, a colourful change from everyday office wear that filled the premises with festive spirit.
Our Founder Chairman, Mr Ganesan, and CEO, Dr Radhika Ganesan, graced the occasion. In keeping with tradition, our CEO lit the ceremonial lamp and performed the pooja, offering prayers for prosperity, abundance and the wellbeing of the organisation and every member of the Guires family.
Pongal reminds us to be grateful for every harvest, and for the trust of the clients and colleagues who make ours possible.
To add flavour to the day, the HR team organised a pongal-making competition. Colleagues were divided into four teams, each tasked with preparing the traditional sweet pongal of rice cooked with milk and jaggery. In true competitive spirit, every team raced to finish first while striving to make the sweetest pongal, a lively reminder of how well our people collaborate under pressure.
The celebration ended on a joyous note, reflecting the cultural pride, unity and teamwork that are hallmarks of Guires.
More than a celebration of tradition, Pongal was a meaningful reminder of new beginnings, shared values and gratitude: for our colleagues, and for the clients and partners who continue to place their trust in us. We begin 2026 with that gratitude and with renewed passion to serve them with integrity and care.
